The Plasma Pen Skin Tag Removal Journey

A clear, honest guide to what skin tags are, why people remove them, and how the Plasma Pen makes the process safe, quick, and virtually pain-free.

What Is a Skin Tag?

Generally speaking, skin tags are harmless, making them a great candidate for Plasma Pen treatment. They are a benign (non-cancerous) growth formed by grouped collagen and blood vessels that are trapped within the skin. Typically they are skin-coloured and rounded or cylindrical in shape. Over time they can turn brown and reddish in colour.

Commonly found in folds and creases in the skin, particularly where there is friction. Common areas include:

  • neck
  • groin
  • armpits
  • eyelids
  • breasts
  • face

Despite not representing a health risk, studies have shown them to be associated with metabolic deficiencies such as Type 2 Diabetes. Men and women can both develop them, and they are more common in adults who experience hormonal changes such as pregnancy.

Do Skin Tags Need to Be Removed?

In short, no. Although most people who want to remove a skin tag do so for one of the following reasons:

  • Cosmetic or aesthetic, usually due to being in a visually unpleasing location
  • Irritation or discomfort, usually due to being in an awkward location like a skin fold, or where a strap or piece of clothing is constantly rubbing or causing friction

How Are Skin Tags Removed?

Firstly, book a consultation to make sure everything is OK and that there are no contraindications to moving forward with the treatment. Once the green light has been given, it is a matter of choosing a method.

The most common ways to date are:

  • Excision (surgical scissors or scalpel)
  • Cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen)
  • Cauterisation (electrolysis)

With the advancement of technology, here at Plasma Pen Clinic I use the Plasma Pen's advanced plasma technology. Not just any plasma pen, more specifically the Advanced Cosmetic Corrector. If we were to compare, it falls somewhere close to cauterisation. In our case, instead of a scalpel or electrolysis we use plasma, the fourth state of matter.

What Does the Treatment Involve?

Treatment is safe, quick, and easy. Numbing cream is applied to the area prior to treatment so it is pain-free. All up the whole procedure takes about an hour, this includes the 45-minute wait while the numbing cream takes effect. Walk in, walk out.

Post Treatment

Our specific Plasma Pen aftercare program and products will be provided to help with healing and recovery. Expect a scab to form within 3 days post-treatment. It will naturally fall off within 9 to 15 days, leaving you with a new smooth layer of skin, skin tag free.

“Walk in, walk out, skin tag free in a single session.”
